Sterling silver charm with a red enamel heart. Charity charm made for the Danish fundraiser Danmarks Indsamling 2009 (about 12,000 made across the silver and 14k versions, DKK 225). Around 1,000 leftover pieces were sold in the UK in 2012 at GBP 150, which Pandora later partly refunded. Earlier spelling 79487E09.

Fakes are often well made. These checks help, but they do not replace an examination by a professional.

Hallmark

The stamp a genuine piece carries is shown above, next to the material. Good fakes copy the stamp, so also check its position and size.

Shape and details

Compare the piece with the photo above: outline, enamel colours, position and number of stones, lettering.

Magnet

Silver and gold are not magnetic. If the piece sticks to a magnet, it is not genuine.

Price

An offer far below the original price is a warning sign.

Packaging

A genuine box or receipt proves nothing about the piece inside it.

On VaultBase, the seller is paid only once you have received the piece.
