I can almost smell the warm gingerbread on this brightly decorated charm! Every side is full of charming details. At the front there two large windows plus a tiny heart shaped window in the roof space. A red and white striped enamel candy canes stand either side of the door which is decorated with beads of icing. A green enamel Christmas tree stands at the back of the house and red, green and blue candy drops are stuck alongside it. The roof is tiled with edible shingle and the message ’Home Sweet Heart’ is engraved on the bottom.

Fakes are often well made. These checks help, but they do not replace an examination by a professional.

Hallmark

The stamp a genuine piece carries is shown above, next to the material. Good fakes copy the stamp, so also check its position and size.

Shape and details

Compare the piece with the photo above: outline, enamel colours, position and number of stones, lettering.

Magnet

Silver and gold are not magnetic. If the piece sticks to a magnet, it is not genuine.

Price

An offer far below the original price is a warning sign.

Packaging

A genuine box or receipt proves nothing about the piece inside it.

On VaultBase, the seller is paid only once you have received the piece.
