Until now I had never heard of a Christmas penguin and I was surprised to discover there is even a book called The Christmas Penguin by Mary Packard! Whether or not the Pandora penguin is the same, he certainly is a sweet little character wearing a cute bobble hat. A silver bell dangles from the back of his hat and I really hope it makes a ringing noise! China Exclusive

Fakes are often well made. These checks help, but they do not replace an examination by a professional.

Hallmark

The stamp a genuine piece carries is shown above, next to the material. Good fakes copy the stamp, so also check its position and size.

Shape and details

Compare the piece with the photo above: outline, enamel colours, position and number of stones, lettering.

Magnet

Silver and gold are not magnetic. If the piece sticks to a magnet, it is not genuine.

Price

An offer far below the original price is a warning sign.

Packaging

A genuine box or receipt proves nothing about the piece inside it.

On VaultBase, the seller is paid only once you have received the piece.
